I’ve had the great pleasure and honor of working with Second Chances Garage for well over a decade. In this instance, I had the privilege of awarding two SUNEX Tools–sponsored apprentices—trained through Second Chances Garage and the Auto Tech program at the Frederick County Career and Technology Center—with their tool sets after completing 450 hours of apprenticeship. It was a meaningful milestone for both of them, for me, and for the broader community as they step into their automotive careers equipped with the tools they need to succeed, without the burden of overwhelming debt.

In this hosting instance, I had the opportunity to help a retiring armed services member bridge the gap between military service and stepping into a civilian career. I partnered with Gregory Poole Caterpillar to increase brand awareness in a category we wanted to grow, while also supporting someone truly deserving. First Sergeant Joshua Nichols has dedicated 20 years to serving our country—as a wheeled vehicle mechanic, drill sergeant, mechanic instructor, and Army Ranger. Through the DoD SkillBridge Program with Gregory Poole Caterpillar, I was honored to support his transition into his next mission with SUNEX Tools.

To celebrate our employees and all the work they do, we thought it would be great to let them have the first look at the new GEARWRENCH livery for the 2020 NASCAR season. I was happy to host the event with our driver Kurt Busch and thank our associates.
